Our society is going through a transformation. Medical advances have been successful in keeping patients with many comorbidities alive for significantly more time. Managing chronically ill patients need different training and approach to patient care than treating patients in acute conditions which are reversible. The goal in managing these subsets of patients requires an approach to relieve their suffering and improving quality of life. With a handful of trained doctors all over India, there is a great need for teaching basic skills in communication, breaking bad news, as well as optimizing symptom management.
